Teachers become more effective with security and academic freedom, and this is the basis upon which the practice of tenure is built- We must be concerned that our Negro schools are so heavily staffed by people who arc denied academic freedom!THERE ARE man) schools on Chicago's Soulhsidc and . Negro teachers, on Lhc other hand, seek to teach the children of their own people, but when they apply to TAKE the examination, they are told that their college courses arc inadequate and that they must gn back to school! Negroes then go over to Chicago Teachers College and load up on non-sense courses in education which are often far-removed from the real problems of teaching. The majority of Negroes who seek employment m Chicago have gained an education through the only institutions available to them; Negro Colleges.
