A county fire official, in an address before the installation dinner of Mountain View Vol unteer Fire Co. and auxiliary Saturday night at Legion Hall, Wynantskill, said that if all went well soon, the county would have a modern fire-training tower fa cility. The speaker was William R. Browne of Rensselaer, deputy county fire coordinator and sec retary of the County Fire Ad visory Board. Browne said that efforts were being made to negotiate for use of the former Troy incinerator y building on Oakwood Avenue for this training site. He also em phasized the continuous need for training by the volunteers, es pecially since they are called into other communities through mutual aid. The fire official warned that greater efforts must be made to make people aware of the dan gers of fires and to take strong preventative measures. He em phasized that people are always aware of the toll of life taken in war, on the highways, etc., but “do we honestly stop to con sider the heavy toll that is ex tracted from our nation every year through fire?” He said it was not enough for volunteers to be keenly aware of their obligation to protect human life and property, but that the residents of communi ties themselves must be made to realize the necessity for fire, safety and fire prevention. He was introduced by the toastmaster, Michael Carey, who is vice president and chaplain of the company. Carey in turn was introducted by Frank Ma son, outgoing president. Mason was also installing of ficer. Inducted into office were Albert Quandt, president; Mr. Carey, vice president and chap lain; William Quandt, recording secretary; Robert Goodwin, treasurer; Joseph Schultz, finan cial secretary; Edward Welch, sergeant-at-arms; Peter Passino, director, five years, and Elliott MacRoberts, for two years. Also, John W. Forest, chief; Raymond Mason, assistant chief; Mr. Welch, captain; William Quandt, first lieutenant, and Thomas Carroll, second lieutenant. Auxiliary officers installed were: Mrs. Carol Mason, presi dent; Mrs. Margaret Gregware, vice president; Mrs. Hazel Mac Roberts, secretary; Mrs. Betty Revoir, financial secretary; Mrs. Mary Passino, treasurer; and Mrs. Mary Nagle, sergeant at arms. Mr. Carey gave the invoca tion. Dancing followed the din ner.
