Special—George Stuhler. pioneer business man of Monticello and senior member of the G*orge Stuhler Sons* Co of thi* cifv, died at his home here Monday at 11:50 a. m. Mr. Stuhler has not been in good health for several years. Saturday at the store, during the forenoon, he suffered a severe attack of heart trouble andwas taken to his home and a physician summoned. He gradually grew weaker and death came Monday.Mr Stuhler was the son of George Stuhler and Mary HintermeisterStuhler and was born In Muscatine, Iowa, in 1853, the eldest of three sons. H© came to Monticello as a young hoy, with hi.s parents, wherehis father engaged in the boot andshoe business. In later years, the business was expanded and three storey established, a grocery department. shoe department and a clotli-ing department, under the management of the three sous, George taking charge of the grocery store, Fredlt;»f the shoe department’and William Stuhler of the clothing department Wter the death of the father, about thirty years ago. the company was incorporated under the name of the George Stuhler Sons’ company.Mr. Stuhler was married when 21 years of age to Miss Mary Hinter meister of Muscatine. He was engaged in business here for 53 years.' He is survived by one daughter. Miss Kate Stuliler of Lincoln, Nebr ] and four sons. Dr L. G. Stuhler. one of the staff of the Mayo Brothers’ hospital at Rochester. Minn., Karl Stuhler, Washington, D. C.. Alberti and Riess Stuhler. Monticello. Thel funeral arrangements have not been I made as yet, but it will probably behdd Wednesday afternoon with Interment in Oakwood cemetery.
