Examiner ManVisits PicachoThe Examiner wan Incited Sunday to make the trip to Picacho with Dr. H. Vance Clywer in hl» Pulck car. and the trip was a delightful one all the way through. The road to Pica-cho is fine now, there being little or _ ('no dust and arter the mesa is reached u abounds In scenery that can hardly be surpasBOd anywhere In the country. At one point near Devil's Slide, the road may be men in six different; places as it winds In and out of the washes and around the mountain j, and after scooting down the Slide at the bottom of which there Is a sharp turn, one gets a glimpse of the road in four different places above.Across the river from the high point attained here Is Arizona and her mountains, and the deep washes and canyons in the distance remind one of the Orantl Canyon of Arizona.ft is a trip well worth taking at any time. Coming in to the mine the road winds around the wash and into Picacho fiasln, and no glimpse of the mine in aiforded until you are within a quarter of a mile of the mine itself.Picacho as a mine has existed for over forty years, arid it was with real Interest that the Examiner man moved around over the old workings yesterday In company with Superintendent Moody while Dr. Ciymor was looking arter his patients, of which fortunately, there were very few.A new dry washing machine has lately been installed on part of the company’s property and Is being operated under u lease frotu the company by oilier par lies.Up at the mine proper the Picacho company Is working three shifts of men and the mill is running at all times of tins day or night, and «v» 50 men are employed. While Picacho Is in California u lias always paid tribute to Yuma In I he form of supplies bought., etc., and in really considered a Yuma mine Tor the above reason.Thousands of dollars have lieen taken out of tin* mint? ifi the years that have past and still It ill a good producer and one that, never varies In oiitpul. Ill this respect It. Is one of the greatest mines ill the west. The buildings and houses are far more substantial than one usually finds around a mine and they are all neatly painted and a general air of prosperity reigns over all.The Irlp going over was made In an hour and forty-five minutes and the return trip In about the same time.ACitJ.itE ,f. itcI,NEEPwhlt;flowandtlmIhotancera\of .\mbloonmftmeSaluotfropoiiLeDrdo:W.IIitfFC0OFO!!!!•
