A correspondent of the Boston Journal writes ub follows:Tho resignation or removal of Mr. Cameron revives the gossip that he was under the ban in certain quarters where a lady was concerned. It was said here some time ago ijiat he was not only in disfavor, but that a lady in high position had written a letter in which Mr. Cameron was mentioned with another Secretary who would so n be removed. A copy of that letter. I have reason to believe, is in the hands of a distinguished member of Congress from this State, and has been shown to a tew trusty persons. As the removal of Mr. Cameron has been completed, it will be curious to see if the other member ot the Cabinet will follow. If he does, the reason for this charge as indicated in the letter, will be more curious than the letter itself.We have beiore seen several ot thesedark hints thrown out by the papers. Why not talk it out and say just what you rneaD, viz : That Mrs. Lincoln dabbles in the allairs of State, and not unfrequently exercises a controlling influence. We think decidedly that is not the sphere of woman, and have no reason to think Mrs. Lincoln wise beyond her generation. However, if she aided in the removal of Cameron, and gives her influence lor do worse measures than that, not much harm will be done.The following story of a conversation between a prominent iSew York Bank Presi dent and Mr. Lincoln, soon alter the capture o» Mason and Slidell, is going the newspaper rounds. It is true, the President only expressed the almost uuanimuus leeiiDg of the people. The banker, among other things, said to the President:“ Well, Mr. Lincoln, what arc you going to do with the rebel ambassadors '(’ “ Give them ug, i ’bpose,” was the curt reply. The bank president suggested that perhaps the public would not sustain the government in such an act.
