PORT ARTHUR — After the wheels came off against Kingwood on Friday, the Memorial Titans regrouped to pick up a 47-43 win over Baytown Lee on Tuesday night. With the win, Memorial keeps its playoff hopes alive by improving to 7-5 in District 21-5A. The Titans travel to Beaumont on Friday to take on West Brook. The Bruins beat Memorial in Port Arthur earlier in the district season. Titans don’t absolutely need to win Friday, however, as Atascocita fell to 7-5 after losing to Channelview on Tuesday night. But a win in Beaumont would certainly improve Port Arthur’s chances for the post season. Atascocita host Baytown Sterling (4-8) on Friday and then host Kingwood on Tuesday, while Memori al finishes with West Brook and Sterling. If Atascocita and Memorial end the regular season in a tie, a play-in playoff game would be necessary to determine who finishes in the fourth and final play off spot. Jacovin Buckner led the Titans with 17 points and five boards against Lee. He was joined by Dominique Thomas who tallied 10 points and five boards. The Titans jumped out with a commanding 19-9 lead in the first quarter but seemed to put the game on auto-pilot for the remainder of the game, as the Ganders stuck around all the way through the end.
