Former Wac Captain Stationed at FortFrancis £. WarrenFort Warren, Wyoming.—Technical Sergeant Catharine G. Landry, former captain in the Women’s Army Corps, has been assigned duties in the Headquarters Base Locator Section ait Fort Warren.Sergeant Landry began her military career at Fort Des Moines, Iowa in November, 1942. After completing basic training and a course at the Army Administration School in Des Moines, she entered Officer’s Candidate School.Sergeant Landry graduated from Officer’s Candidate School with the sixth highest rating in a class of one hundred and fifty and was assigned the duties of company executive officer at Fort Des Moines.In September, 1943 Sergeant Landry (then second lieutenant) activated a medical unit at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and remained in command of that unit until she was alerted for overseas duty in February, 1945.' After completion of a two-week pre-overseas training course ait Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, Sergeant Landry (then first lieutenant) reported to the New York Port of Embarkation.Arriving In England, she was assigned to the 6888th Central Postal Battalion as adjutant and continued in that capacity when the unit was transferred to France. Sergeant Landry returned to the States • in February, 1946 and on February 18 went on terminal leave as a captain in the Army of the United States.Sergeant Landry, a native of New Orleans, La., re-enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps as a technical sergeant in October, 1946. Another former WAC captain, Staff Sergeant LaMar Y. Turpin is also stationed at Fort Warren.
