)UTHTOWN, CHICAGO, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1924Watch For The Southtown EconomistWATCH for the initial appearance next week of the Southtown Economist. A new paper? No, your old friend, the Englewood Economist, under a new name—a name which will in no way affect the strictly local character of the paper’s policies but which, it is believed, will more adequately express the spirit of expansion and cooperation that is increasingly prevalent in our great, growing section of the city. The name, Southtown Economist, is a consolidated name for the three Foster McDonnell publications, the Economist, the Auburn Community Booster, and the Merchants Telegram of West Englewood, and 'with the change here next week a similar change will go into effect in our neighboring districts. The community service characteristics and the individual identity ox each paper, will, however, be retained. The Central Edition of the Southtown Economist, as the Englewood Economist will be known, will be published on Wednesday as heretofore, the South Edition on” Tuesday, and the West Edition on Thursday. The South Edition will primarily concern itself with serving the interests ofEnglewood, Normal Park, Hamilton Park, Park Manor, Garfield blvd., and Ogden Park, Local news will be considered of foremost importance and it is local problems with which the editorial columns will deal. In fact, so far as our readers and friends are concerned, the immediate difference will consist of_ a name change merely, the need for growing accustomed to a different mode ox designation. But through the closer co-operation that will be made possible thereby, in the production end of the publications, the publishers expect to be able greatly to better the news features and advertising service that it is now possible to offer our public. Some inconvenience will inevitably result from the changing of a name of eighteen years’ standing. But it is in the interests of progress, and the publishers of the Englewood Economist, in subjecting their public to this inconvenience, are indicating their faith in _the ability of our good friends to look into the future and help us, and let us help them, to build for it.Watch for the Southtown Economist next week then. We expect to make it become a paper that will be even a greater community servant and advocate than is the Englewood Economist.
