Mrs, A, K, lienne and Mrs, J. L-.Corn well were appointed to represent the department In assisting In the preservation of an old graveyard which a West Point pulp company hasdiscovered on company property. Thisgraveyard, located lu a timber stand on what was once a Hall plantation, •has at least four graves marked by Hat tablets from the seveuteepth century and a memorial shaft bearing the name of Peter Mon (ague. The pulp company Is seeking sponsorship forthe preservation of the graveyard and will undertake to clear the ground around the shaft and the graves.Mrs. Peirce explained that I*eter Montague, a Burgess from Lancaster {n l(Jf8, was actually n resident of Middlesex, which was then still a part of Lancaster. He Is almost certainly not buried where the memorial shaft stands, but the other graves In the area are presumed to le of some his tor leal Interest.
