'A communication from Dr. E D Baker, presented by Mr. 3 C West, was, on motion, referred to th j-committce on the poor department.Sundry accounts were present el and appropriately referred.The committee on public buildings, to whom was referred the account of M M Leahy, amounting to 334 39, for gas fixtures, c., submitted the following report:Vour committee have examined the within ei aim and find that a part of said account, charged a; 519 21, has been disposed of by the former board, and the balance* of said account, charged at J13 5, your committee would recommend to allow at 512 J3 in full, deducting S3 53.Whith report was adopted by the board.The committee on miscellaneous accounts, to whom was re-referred the account of J L Davis Co, ajntfunting to 5^13 39, for goods furnished, submitted the following report and resolutions:.Your committee to whom the annexed account was re-referred for the purpose of procuring the opinion cf the district attorney La regard to the right and power of the jailor of tills county to purchase and. procure goods, c,,f§r the use of the jail, without the consent of the board of supervisors, beg leave to submit the following rep ortfThe committee hava consulted tbo district attorney on the subject and have been informed shat said account is a proper charge against the count v as the goods mentioned in tho samo were furnished for the county jail.^ The committee would refer the boar i to the provisions of sections 3 and 15 of chapter 190 of the revised statutes, providing that goods for the use Vf the jail can be furnished by cither sheriff or jailor of any county. Y* e would therefore jecoininend that the annexed account of J L Davis ft Do be allowed at 5213 99, being the amount charged, and further recommend the adoption of the following resolutions:® ©solved, That this board will not hereafter credit and allow any claiip or account against the county unless tha goods shall have been purchased, or the labor performed by direction of some committee or person authoriied by some resolution, order or rule of this board.
