Because the freeway will be on a new alignment, no detours for State highway traffic will be required. Detours will beprovided for two majorcross streets - Ramona avenue and Central avenue, which will remain open to public traffic atall times. The remaining cross traffic will behandled by alternate closing and opening of various streets. The contract allows 270 working days which would mean completion is expected about the summerof 1970.The total cost of the project is estimated at about $8,5 million. In Los Angeles County, bids will be opened March 6, 1969 for five miles of Route 60, from Brea Canyon (Route 57) to Lob Angeles County Line. TMs project is anticipated to be completed also during the summer of 1970, thus adding over ten miles t o the Pomona Freeway easterly to Ontario.Kane remarked he is hopeful that about this time next year the State will be advertising the second unit of the Pomona Freeway, from Euclid avenue to Mira Loma.
