Jones LectureDr. Thomas Cheng Discusses 'Non-Life to Life’ TomorrowRecent biological finding* that shed light on the origins of life forms will be discussed in a Jones faculty lecture by Dr. Thomas C. Chong tomorrow night.An associate professor of biology, Dr. Cheng has entitled his lecture Non-Life to Life: Past Observations and Future Speculations.Ha will present the talk at 8 p.m. in 101 Kirby Hull of Civil Rights. The lecture nnd a reception following it in Marquis Hall will be open to the public.Particularly interested in the evolution und manifestation of microorganisms, Dr. Cheng will describe some of his own findings relative to parasitism in the lecture.Biologic Developmentlie also plana to trace the development of the field of biology, including its transition from natural history to an experimental science.Dr. Cheng is on the editorial committee of the Pennsylvania Academy of Science and a frequent participant in meetings of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and numerous other professional groups.lie has been asked to head conferences on the relationshipsof parasitic animals for both the Pennsylvania Academy of Science and the New York Acudemy of Sciences in 1963.Two textbooks written by Dr. Cheng are The Biology of Ani-rnnl Parasites ami Principles of Cell Function. They ore scheduled for publication this year.In the past five years he has received three awards in recognition of his work in microscopical biology und the life sciences.Faculty Mem!
