Refected Manuscripts cannot he returned).8 MALL-POX.To tub Editor.Big,—Li your Adelaide telegrams last week the following nppears: “ Mr. Beresford telegraphed to the papers that Dr. \Yood aud others had grossly bungled quarantine arrangements.” From this *ire it might appear that I had made a personal attack on Dr. Wood, so I hand you a copy of my wire to show what was really sent. As an independent menubar of the public I can only repeat that I consider that, from hrst to last, there has been nothing but the most childish bungling in the whole quarantine arrangements, and if small pox were to appear in our midst there is no doubt at whqse door the blame would be laid.“SA. Register, Adelaide.—Emphati-cr.’l r}rotc-t against Pr. Wood, Health (h.'.ojr, ^ho has had actual contact with smallpox patient, “Chingtu,” teing excepted from quarantine. Captain Marsh and Servaftte, who boarded, quarantined fortnight. Dr. Wood re-ihuins ashore and mixes freely with inhabitants. Quarantine farce. Wood saw patient, came ashore, after fumigation went to diuner party. Dr. Stow, partner, who could have attended shore patients, sent off to t* Chingtu.” Greatest dissatisfaction here. Fullest enquiry should be made prevent future bungling. Details quarantine unsatisfactory. Station required. Board Health ignored.P n RPR FRPHP T n
