MARK E. WERTZ Mark E. Wertz, 17, of 27 Queen Street, Wellsboro, was found dead near the Wellsboro Junior High School on Nichols Street about 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 1981. Dr. James L. Wilson, county coron er, ruled death was self-inflicted. Born June 13, 1963,in Sayre, he was a son of Edward A. and Mary Lou Sel leck Wertz A senior at Wellsboro High School, he was a member of the track and cross country teams. He was a member of Marsh Creek Baptist Church. Surviving, besides his parents, are a brother, Eric, at home: paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Wertz, of Sayre, maternal grand mother, Mrs. Eleanor Lattimer, of Waverly, NY. and maternal great grandmother, Mrs Marleah Wilcox, of Syracuse, N.Y. The funeral was held Monday at the First Baptist Church Burial was in Wellsboro Cemetery. The Reverend Paul J. Connors, his pastor, officiated. Briggs, 86. of Morris, died Tuesday,Feb 3 1981 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wells boro He was born October 6, 1894 in Tioga County, the son of William and Helen Love Briggs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Constance Briggs, who died in 1973 A retired independent trucker. Mr Briggs was a member of the Mt Pleasant United Methodist Church, member of the Morris Rod and Gun Club, and was a member and the first fire chief of the Morris Fire Depart ment He attended the Scotland Mili tar Academy, Scotland. Born April 6, 1890, at Emporium, she was the daughter of Arthur and Cora Wykoff Nelson. * Mrs. Berfield was a member of Cov ington Church of Christ, Disciples. She was a member of Covington Borough Grange. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Tarbox, of Clearwater, Fla., and Mrs. Harold Davie, of Mansfield. FRANK BOINSKI Helen £. Boinski, 84, of Blossburg, died on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1981 at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital at Wellsboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1964, and her son, Charles in 1968. She attended Morris Run schools; she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the Chris tian Mothers Sacred Heart and Altar Rosary Society. She was past presi dent of the American Legion Auxil iary Post of Blossburg and was also an active member of the Democratic Political Party.
