Litton public relations executive Rhonda Boone said the plant will initially employ 100.‘ ‘We hope to be expanding in about two years to a payroll of about 250,” she said.While the facility will initially Aianufacture marine cable, pfans call for expansion into geophysical instrumentation and equipment.Construction is expected to be complete by mid-summer, 1979.Groundbreaking ceremonies, sponsored by the Alvin Chamber, featured several Litton and local dignataries. Heading the list was Alvin Mayor Allen Gray, instrumental in recruiting the plant with other city council members.Booth B. Strange, president of Western Geophysical and corporate vice president of Litton Industries, was the top Litton official attending.Other corporate brass attending were Litton Resources System president Jim Porter and the Alvinfacility’s general manager Joe Shivers.J.C.
