(Lampasas Leader) The body of Dr. J. D. Dorbandt is being shipped by Santa Fe from Mon rovia, Calif., to Lampasas and is ex pected to arrive here tonight at 11:30. He died after a two-day illness in Mon rovia Friday, January 22.. Prior to his fatal illness he had a cold but he had recovered partially and was able to be out again, according to reports re cited here, * or if the body which is accompanied , his daughter, arrives as scheduled, nuneral services will be held Friday ‘ternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The service w ill be from St. Mary’s Episcopal church and interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery. The service will be cor vered by Rev. Moreland, Episcopal Rector of San Antonio. Pallbearers will be Kyle Oliver, H. V. Campbell, Clyde Hetherly, H. J. Ab ney, E. L. Key and J. J. Byrne. Dr. Dorbandt who practiced medi cine in Lampasas for about 25 years was widely known over this section. he was about 40 years of age and was born in Burnet county, son of Capt. Christian Dorbandt who was a native of Denmark and Annie Donlavy Dor bandt, a native of Ireland. After fin ishing his medical training began the practice of medicine at Narnia. While there he married Miss Ollie Bodenham er, of Burnet county and they moved to Lampasas. She died after a num ber of years and he later married Miss Ida Murray. After twenty-five or more years here practicing, Dr. Dor bandt and his family moved to Monro via, Calif. and stayed for some five or six years. Then he moved to Llano and practiced medicine there till the death of his second wife about 1936 and returned to California. Three children were born to him as his first wife. One, Justin Dérbandt died in a trasport durng the First World War. Two are living: William Dorbandt who is with the Standard OS Co. of South Africa, and Mrs Frank (Allie) Long of Monrovia, Cal ifornia. He also leaves two grandsons and one granddaughter: two sisters Mrs. Nannie Phillipe and Mrs. Rose Ella Bokhoff of Los Angeles, Calif. and six brothers, Newt Dorbandt of Athens, Chris. Dorbandt of Burnet Dr. Tom Dorbandt of San Antonio, Robert Dorbandt of El Paso, Chas. Dorbandt of Rincon, N. M. and Seth Dorbandt of Mullin, Dr. Dorbandt was a member of the Episcopal church and of the Masonic ruer. While in Lampasas he served the city as mayor for about seven years. He always took an active part in civic affairs of this city and devot ed a great deal of his time to helping better conditions wherever he lived. Besides his daughter, three of four of his brothers will be here for the funeral services, besides many other more remote relatives and friends from over this section.
