CLOCKWISE FROM BOTTOM RIGHT—A car accident four years ago left Gary Braswell paralyzed from the waist down. Now a junior occupational therapy major at TWU, Gary said he chose occupational therapy because he wants to serve as an example to others who are injured or disabled...Sometimes Gary catches rides from friends up hills or for short distances, this time with his girlfriend Karen Sepulveda...He was told he’d never be able to walk, but through physical therapy he’s learned to walk with fore-armed crutches...Gary said he has learned and is still learning to draw strength from God. ‘Through my faith in Jesus Christ I was brought to a point in my life where I had to rely totally on the strength of God rather than myself.’’...Last year Gary won and still holds the bench press title in a national contest for the disabled. His winning lift was 210 pounds at a bodyweight of 122 photos by Julien Romano
