HOLDINGS OF CARTER COMPANY' ENLARGED ‘Tulsa, Okla., Janu 29,—The Carter Oil Co., today announced the enlargement of its holdings and activities In ’the Rocky Mountain rea with the purchase of 900 barrels daily crude oil production in the Elk Basin field In Wyoming and three refineries with a total daily capacity of 12,000 barrels.Although company officials would make no estimate, the consideration was said to involve several million dollars. The company is a subsidiary of Standard Oil of New Jersey.Carter purchased the producing and , refining properties of P. N. Fortin and I/. 33. Hancock, the announcement said. These included the production and refineries of the Yale Oil corporation at Bovell and Worland, Wyo., and Billings, Mont.The Billings refinery has a daily capacity of 9,000 barrels; the Bovell refinery, ^.500 .barrels, and the Worland reflneryr 500 barrels.In .addition, the deal involved gathering and marketing facilities in the area. These properties, officials said, will become a part of the horthweetern division of the Carter, which recently purchased properties of the -Santa Rita Oil and Gas Co. at Cut Bank, Mont., and the 3,500 barrel a day capacity refinery of the Northwest Refining company at Cut Bank.* •
