In the most exciting game of the season here, the Lebanon high school basketball team last night nosed out the Red and White quintet by a score of 30 to 29. The come-back of the local team in the second per iod and the remarkable playing of DeVol, Lebanon's forward were feat ures. The work of DeVol proved to be the undoing of the locals. A packed house witnessed the con test which was hard fought from the opening whistle and full of thrills. The first half opened slow as neither team seemed to be able to get their bearings. After three minutes play, however, Burgdoerfer counted from the field. This was soon tied by Lebanon after many shots were missed and the half ended 15 to 9 in favor of the visitors. The second half opened with a rush as Burgdoerfer scored on the first play. This half was checked full of wonderful basketball both of fense and defense. The count see- Bowed and it was evident that the team with the brakes of luck would ‘im and Lebanon had them. With the score 29 to 25 and 4 minute and a half to go, Burgdoerfer scored from the field. At this point the pace was fast and it was telling on both teams. Hibbs fouled and DeVol, who had made 21 out of 29 points for the visitors made good his free toss making the score 30 to 27. Ridge then caged one from deep center making it 29. There remain ed but seconds and a fine chance to win. Connersville took the ball from center to the rim of the basket but it played the edges and fell the wrong way. The gong sounded and the Red and White quintet left the floor with just as much credit as the team with the 30 points. Back Them Now and Always. Every member of the team gave his best and when it is taken into consideration that Lebanon has one of the best teams in the state credit must be given the local squad and its coach for the wonderful showing.
