The Indianapolis Journal of the 5th instant., denounces the statements made by Mr. W. A. Imes in his communication to the Chromci.k of the 20th, in which he referred to the statement made by the Journal, in defense of Mr. Pollard. The Journal’s article in question is very incoherent and misleading, as in one clause It says, “the charges against Pollard are well-authenticated/’ and in the next sentence savs it “ban no information on the subject.” Mr. Iinesattempt-ed no defense for Pollard, as the Journal hastens to imply, but merely repeated the words of Pollard, who claimed to have received his information from his wife. No doubt the article she referred to was as incoherent as the one just received, and it is very probable that she ♦ronstrued it to be in defense of her husband. Mr. Imes is well-known here and with this explanation needs no further defense. We can but add that the editor of the journal is rather handv with the word iiar, which be unfortunately hurls at long range.• •
