Bob McCurdy, of Lodi, CA age 64 years, passed away following a two-year illness with cancer. He was born in Denver, Colorado on October 18, 1940. The fam ily moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1947 where he was reared and educated. He was married to Laurie Maderas in 1961. In 1968 he and Laurie pur chased Guptill’s Jeweler’s in Lodi. He owned and oper ated Robert's Jeweler’s for 37 years, until recently clos ing due to ill health. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and the Lodi Elks Lodge #1900. He had a passion for flying airplanes, enjoyed fishing, boating and was a top trap shooter in San Joaquin County. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Laurie McCurdy of Lodi; a son, Kelly and wife, Michele McCurdy of Scottsdale, Arizona; three grandchildren, Jeannine Kelly ll and Skyler McCurdy He was preceded in death by his son, Edward John McCurdy in 1970. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 215 West Walnut Street at Church Street in Lodi. Instrnment will be private. The time and place of the Recitation of the Rosary will be announced tomorrow. There will be no visitation, but a Family Memorial Registry may be signed at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way near Beckman Road, Lodi on Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to The Lodi House, 801 South Washington Street, Lodi, CA 95240 or St. Anne’s School, 200 South Pleasant Avenue, Lodi, CA 95240 Following Mass, friends are invited to a reception from 12:00 to 4:00 at the Wine Roses Inn. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements tacks. The families of the more than 1,500 troops who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan since then would be eligible. “We think the nation ought to make a larger one-time payment, quite apart from insurance, should you be killed in a combat area of operations,” David Chu, the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, told The Associated Press.
