Gas at GulfThe long-vacant Gulf Oil station on the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 90 and 67 in Marfa will soon open under the new dealership of Joe and Ritchie Skelton.The only Gulf station in Marfa, it will be a “mini-serve” station offering regular and regular unleaded gasoline. It is owned by Alpine-based jobber Newell Oil Co.Delays caused by weather and delivery schedules prevented the new business from opening by Wednesday, Skelton said.Skelton, now employed by Newell, said he plans to repair gasoline pumps on the side. Local dealers until now have had to seek repair from El Paso or Odessa and pay mileage for the repairperson, he said.
