atrick Imm is Deshler9ci tizent theyearDESHLER — Patrick Imm has been selected as recipient of the 1980 Deshler Police Department’s Citizen of the Year award for service to hiscommunity.Imm, 540 Holmes St., was presented a plaque and a certificate of merit from Police Chief Kenneth Cramer and Mayor Andy Johnson at a ceremony held during the village council’s session last Monday. He too, was recognized by council members.Selected from among five candidates, Imm was chosen on criteria including overall community service, service to the police department and consistent deference to the community over personal gain.According to Chief Cramer, Imm, who owns Pat’s Body Repair in Deshler, has given an extraordinary effort as a citizen over the past year and support to the police department.In his business, he is regularly in contact with the department both as a wrecker operator and owner of the auto body repair shop as well as donating his time, resources and even his home.Chief Cramer cited examples of Imm furnishing a place to stay (his home) for a motorist Involved in an accident, thus, saving the department time and effort in locating suitable housing until the driver recovered. Another instance involved Imm testifying in a criminal court case (not directly related to him) with only 30 minutes notice and at the same time, not expecting to be reimbursed for mileage driven or time taken off of work. In that case, Imm’s testimony was the key to a conviction for the village.PATRICK IMM was named the 1980 Deshler Police Department’s Citizen of the Year for his service to the department and community.
