Previous to his departure for Europe he haddisposed of the greatest portion of his oil properties. At the time ofhis death he was president of the Commercial National bank. A large; man physically, he was equally big intellectually. He was a man ofunusually attractive personality. He loved the beautiful in life, as the writer. Who lived beside him for four years, can testify. If there was a shrine at which he worshiped, it was that of home. He delighted in companionship and he made no distinction in his treatment of his fellow beings. All received at his'hands gentle reception and kind consideration. To knov him was to love him for his admirable qualities as ?. man—noble in character, loyal of purpose, unsurpassed in courtesy pnd of unvarying kindness • He' was a valuable' factor in the civic uplift of this community. His stricken family and his host .of friends will forever cherish the radi-ant mentality and the lovable personality with which the Creator endowed him.Apart from the distinctive loss suffered by Muskogee in his untimely demise, it will ever remain a matter of deep regret to the citizens of this city that he was cut down at a time when he was with renewed energy contemplating entering actively into the substantial development ofGreater Muskogee. ,Mrs. Barnes ia on tbj way to the United States with the remains. Mr.and Mrs. George W. Barnes, Jr., will meet their mother at New York. Interment will take place at Tolodo,Ohio.The late George W, Barnee ia survived by a widow and three chiV Mrs. J. H. Seocor of Toledo,and George Vv. Jr:. and Horace Y.Barnes of Muskogee.
