IN MEMOKIAMGeorge W. Barnes Is Dead• ftThe mailed hand of death knocked at a door in far-away Monte Carlo. Obeying the final summons. George W. Barnes, on January 28th, 1911, started on a long journey to the better land, tee died suddenly and, although .advised two days before that he was critically ill, his family and friends were not prepared to hear the worst. His death was a great shock to them add this, com m unity.About three mouths ago Mr. and Mrs. Barnes, accompanied by their niece, crossed the Atlantic, as they had., done oftentimes before, for a change and to eniov the benefits which travel usually brings. Mr. Barnes, when he left Muskogee, was not ill, although his appetite was failing him. Nothing was specially thought of it. His family felt that the sea air and the climatic conditions on the continent of Europe would prove beneficial to him, but it was not to be. He was suffering from' a malady that sooner or later becomes fatal, and it carried him off almost without warning.Mr. Barnes was Muskogee's biggest financier, rated to be worth over a kg million dollars.
