James Delavey was ushered before Squire Cates yesterday morning to answer to the charge of drunkness preferred against him last Saturday night by officers Frazier and Crute He entered a plea of guilty and he was fined the small sum of $9.30, which he failed to pay. His sister entered the court room at the proper time and finding her brother in a very unpleasant predicament, paid his fine.The officers in going their rounds last Saturday right found Delavey endeavoring to extricate himself from a pile of snow into which he had fallen, on West Fifth street. He was so drunk that it took the combinedefforts of the patrolmen to take him j to jail as the streets were very slippery and Delavey's feet would slip in every direction and nearly j trip the officers, and as a last resort they carried him to the bas-tile.
