May be Shot or Imprisoned Tor Life.The federal authorities at Cheyenne have been notified that Charles Aragon, a Mexican, has been arrested at Thermopolls and is it. jail at that plac? awaiting trial in the federal court at the next term.Aragon was arrested under instructions from the federal authorities and his case is a novel one under the laws of the United States, lie was discovered living with a fourteen-year old Indian girl who is soon to become a mother. The federal law relating to this offense is peculiar, inasmuch as the guilty party can be charged with either rape or adultery. The latter offense is not considered a serious one and the penalty is not severe, but for the former the penalty Is death or imprisonment for life where the guilt? party is not an Indian If the guiltj party is an Indian the punishment was | formerly the death sentence, but now lies with the discretion of the court.
