An Important Case.Col. W. A. Lynch received word from Pierre to-day that the decision of Judge Campbell in the case of A. 11. Risdon vs. Ira Davenport has been affirmed by the supreme court. Judge Campbell over ruled a dumurrer of phuntitf. and Risdon appealed. This case is an outgrowth of the celebrated “Cameron Claims.’ and is also important lor the reason that several parties are affected by this decision. Risdon tiled on one of the Cameron claims (upon which Davenport held a mortgage for money loaned to the first entrymau) and pushed his contest to a successful issue, finally securing a government patent. To quiet title to the laud, Kisdon brought suit to set aside Davenport s mortgage upon the ground that the alleged mortgagor was a fictitious person or at most had never acquired title.Col. Lyucb, attorney for Davenport, set up aim ng other things, that there was no jurisdiction m the laud department to hear and determine the contest, ou account of defective proceedings, and also for the reason that the title became a vested right by virtue of the original certificate and that this certificate was in effect a patent, and that the land department could not disturb the title m the hands of an innocent purchaser or uicuinheraiicer. Judge Campbell's decision was based upon this point. It will not be known for several days, until the full opinionis received, just what points the court passed upon, but however that may be, Col. Lynch is satisfied that lie has as good as won a linal verdict for lus client.—Huron Democrat
