He was pursued and threw awav the mutton, and wlicu he was caught he said “I have not got the mutton!” which was quite true, for he had previously got rid of it. On Mr. Kifford attempting to secure him he made a desperate resistance, wriggled and twisted^for some time, and then fastened his teeth on Mr. •Lifford’s knee and bit him and lacerated him severely A powerful blow on the jaw of the young savage compelled irm to Jet go. Mr. Kifford was very much injured.The prisoner, on being asked to give some account of mmself, said he came from London, and, on being required h' state what part of London, replied “ From Whiteeross-street, St. Luke’s.” He had been in custody before.He was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment and Hard labour.
