Ignatius 1 6 410 460 St. George © 7 410 519 St Mel’s Varsity cagers, ‘holders of first place in the Chi ngoland Prep league with a 6-1 ‘record, will be aiming for their ‘seventh win when they are at the Friday night to St. Igna tius in their first game of the league’s second round of play. _ Saturday night the Knights will journey to St. Patrick to meet the tough Shamrocks, who are 6-2 in league play and hold second in the Prep league. The Knights have met and eated both of their coming friend foes in league play season. They halted the St. Ignatius Wolves in a tough bat tle last Dec. 16 at St. Ignatius, 385, to 82. Their tussle against the Shamrocks on Jan. 6 was also a tough encounter, with the Knights winning, 69 to 67. Like it did all other sports ac tivities in our city last week end, the record snow last Fri day halted the cage duel be tween the Slingerland twins, Coach Bob Slingerland of St. Mel and his twin brother, Don, mentor of the St. George Drag ons. The game has been rescheduled for Feb. 11. A list of the league’s scoring leaders shows Bob Fields, co captain of the St. Mel squad, in third place with 140 points and Ron Smith in ninth place with 114 points.
