ObituaryJohn Leeney was one of the best known and well liked young farmers in Johnson county. He was one of those sterling young men who know how to be a real friend, one who would stand by his comradesthrough thick and thin, and one% % • •who would share his last dollar with a friend in distress. His friends in this section of the country were numbered by the hundreds; at his wake the teams were tied for a distance of three-quarters of a mile on both sides of the house; and the teams which came with the body from the house to the church extended over a distance of two miles.John Leeney was 26 years, 9months and 11 days old. He wasborn 4 1-4 miles south of Oxford, and his death occured on the old home plac$ in the same room inwhich he was born. He grew tomanhood in this community, and was united in marriage to Miss Gertrude McGuillicuddy January 10, 1912. To this union was born one son, Cyril, aged 1 year, 11 months.He leaves to mourn his death his I wife, and child; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Leeney; three brothers and two sisters, William Leeney of Oxford, Ed. Leeney of Whitte-more, Iowa; Frank, Ella and Mary of the home.The funeral was held at St., Mary's church Monday morningwith high requiem mass, Father11 »Renihan conducting the services.
