OLD VETERAN DEADJoseph Peacock, Survivor of Mexican and Indian Wars Dies — Joseph Kipp Dead.Joseph Peacock, the aged father of George and Gust Peacock of Moline, died Friday night at 10:30 of urinary poisoning at tihe home of his son, Gust Peacock, No. 1610% Third avenue. The old gentleman would have been 80 years old next July IT, if he had lived. He was ill only two weeks.Mr. Peacock was born in Lincolnshire, England, and at the age of fifteen his family moved to the United States and settled at Albany, N. Y, taking all the children along with them. Joseph returned to England at 21 years of age but soon came .back to his parents. Later the family moved to Peoria county, 111., and then to Wy-anet, where Mr. Peacock lived for ne^iTly seven years, though more recently at Norway, just before coming to Moline. He came to Moline in July, 1897.He served as a private for two years in the Mexican war and three years in the Florida Indian war. For his service^ in the Mexican war a land grant war'given to him in Wisconsin and he has received a pension? since the pension law of 1893 was passed. His wife died three years ago at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.Ten children survive him, four girls and six boys. Two live in Moline, George and Gust Peacock, the latter being proprietor of the postoffl.ee._har-ber shop; Edward, the eldest of the children', Thomas and Mary, who live at Norway, Iowa; Jennie at Victoria, Iowa; Josio in Colorado, Atfdie and James at Wyanet, 111., and Joseph, the youngest, at Cedar Rapids.The body was shipped to Norway, Iowa, Saturday afternoon and was taken from the house at 3 o’clock after a short service had been held there. Addie and James Peacock came to Moline from Wyanet Saturday to attend the funeral.Kipp.
