It was designed to be a reunion of certain of her ex-U.P: and U, P. friends and a few other affiliated spirits. ' • The company included ministers, editors, presidents and pro? fessors of colleges, universities and theological seminaries, and their Wives. All ate and talked for an hour—breathing spells included—and then for two hours more—silting around, the same table, now empty—poems were read, Zion’s songs and other songs were sung: institutions, papers and persons, were toasted, and rerhinisences of the costumes, customs and teachings of the home and pulpit of long ago were reverently and profitably indulged in . It was a rare occasion of. social and intellectual fellowship. Many of the older people will still- recall - Dr. John Ekin. the once popular pastor at' the First U.P. Church, Pittsburg, and the father of our gifted hcstess, Mrs, Starrett is the principal of the noted school-^Scovel Place.
