An early morning kidnapping on June 18 left the community shocked and spelled tragedy for the family of Kelly Bergh Dove. Mrs. Dove, 20, apparently was ab ducted around 2:30 a.m. June 18 from the Imperial Gas Station on South Main Street where she was working. She had called Harrisonburg police twice before she disappeared. Her first call at 2:27 a.m. was to report an obscene telephone call and to tell police that a man had exposed himself to her earlier that evening. She ask police to “keep an eye” on her. Two minutes later, Mrs. Dove called the police again to report that the man had returned. He was driving a silver colored Ford, she said. When the police arrived at the station two minutes later, it was vacant. There was no evidence of robbery or violence. Although area police have followed dozens of leads and reports, they still have found no trace of the brown-haired, petite Bridgewater woman.
