Martin’s intfresting letter dn'ths epjumns;hf The Democrat ;.(B6b... and his family, were neighbors .of ours for .a. good many years), which brought back, memories of fifty-years ago when I was in sunny France.Many of the ; places Bob tioned in - his letter are familiar to'me.. ^' Early, in January, 1918, six of us, Ralph Wood, Earl ‘ Kilboame, -Joe Wcinzetl, Thayer Zaboe, ver-nie Lindgren and myself, boarded a Rock Island-train here: for Camp bodge. The'.late Sheriff Wally Jackson -put me in charge, of the men.-.-...- ,We 'left Camp Dodge- during .the month of March for Camp Gordon, Georgia, where-we were assigned to Company G., 325th. Infantry,. 82nd (Ail American) Division. We stayed there about a week, then on to Camp Upton, New York. After a week or so there, we boarded' a ship at Hoboken, N. Y., for France. • •Parade Before KingOn our way, we stopped off in London to parade before the King and Queen of. England of Buckingham Palace. We had some difficulty with the King’s Scottish Highlanders Bagpipe Band.
