Will Be Established by Miss Mary Johnston—Will be Used for Confinement Cases A deal was consummated Saturday whereby Miss Mary Johnston, a trained nurse of this city, purchased the John Cook property on East Jackson street for a consideration of $4,500. Miss Johnston will remodel the residence into a lying-in hospital commencing about the first of March and will give to Macomb an improve ment which is badly needed on ac count of so many patients being brought to this city, and the other institutions being taxed to their ca pacity. The new institution will be known as the Macomb Lying-in Hos pital. In conversation with Miss John ston, she stated that she wished to do something for Macomb and vicin ity, and thought this would do more good than anything else. She will conduct the hospital for the good of humanity, and expects it to be a great help to the city. It will be used for confinement cases only, and will be open for all doctors to bring in their patients. The assistants have not yet been chosen, but such as sistants will be selected as are found to be necessary. Miss Johnston is a daughter of Mr and Mrs. William Johnston of East Jackson street and is highly spoken of in her profession. She is a gradu ate of the Illinois Training School at Chicago. Her many friends wish her all success which her new enter prise deserves.
