OUT AND ABOUTDIANA CAMPBELL-RICE Contributing columnistParty ushers in KDOB’s premiereTHE NEW TELEVISION station in town had a pre-sign-on gala to celebrate its premiere telecast.The only locally-owned independent television station, KDOB-TV Channel 45 first went on the air Dec. 18 and will be available on Warner Cable on channel 13 beginning Jan. 1. The station i3 owned and managed by Dorothy Owens.Described as “a very dynamic and progressive person, by general sales manager, Marlene Heise Delano, Owens is only one of about 15 female general managers in thecountry. There are even fewer female TV station owners.The party was held at the station located in the old KUZZ/KKXX buildings in Oildale. The building remains much the same on the outside, but the interior has been all spruced up. Owens’ office in particular is spectacular. KUZZ’s Richard Trejo, Katrina Costa and I peeked in her office and we all just oohed and ahhed.About 300 people toured the station, all the while sampling the tasty treats provided by Marilyn Curtis.
