Quick License Across Counter Beginning Jan. 13, a trip to Fort Worth for renewing a driver’s license may may save as much as 30 days. Beginning then the De partment of Public Safety will begin an experimental across-the-counter *‘‘in stant ’ issuance of Texas drivers licenses. Applicants will receive a validated photo drivers license through a proce dure made possible by new equipment. The experimental prog ram does not presently in clude Arlington, but if the program is eventually adopted all cities with license offices will offer the instant licenses. The program will, how ever, be under study for two years before a decision is made. Post Office To Shut Down All Arlington postal facilities will be closed on Monday, January 2, 1978, the federal holiday com memorating New Years. Postmaster A. L. Sellers announced today. There will be no window or delivery services except special delivery. Holiday collection schedules will be observed in all areas. Regular services will re sume Tuesday. Air Patrol Gets Plane T The Arlingtoton Com posite Squadron of the Texas Wing, Civil Air Pat rol, recently acquired an airplane. Now it needs pilots to fly it. The aircraft is a two place, L-16 with a tail wheel. It is powered by a fuel injected C85 horse power engine. It is based at the Arlington Municipal Airport. If you are a private pilot who would be interested in flying a “tail dragger ’ and would be willing to become a Civil Air Patrol member, call Roger Yardley at 461- 0296 or Stan Davis at 640- 0636. Civil Air Patrol pilots participate in search and rescue missions, training exercises, disaster recon naissance, airborne radiological monitoring, cadet orientation, pilot proficiency training and mercy flights. The Arlington CAP meets on Monday nights at 7 pm at the Arlington Moose Lodge No. 1932. The next meeting will be January 9. Visitors are welcome.
