.thomas V. Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Peterson, 1374 Kansas Ave., was awarded a $500 scholarship by the Educational Foundation of the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants for the 1973- 74 school year at Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, Kan. Peterson is a sophomore majoring in accounting. Patricia Burnison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bur nison, Alpena, has completed her first semester of her junior year of nurses training at South Dakota State University, Brookings, and will enter second semester work at a St. Paul, Minn. hospital. Patricia, a graduate of Alpena High School, is working toward a bachelor of science degree. When Bob Miller, Pierre, was a freshman engineering student at the School of Mines, Rapid City, he was invited to pick a date to present a one-man art show at Surbeck Center. Miller is now a junior at South Dakota State University, Brookings, pursuing a com mercial art major, and his show will be in the Surbeck Center throughout February. While at Mines, Miller had entered work in the faculty student art show, winning first place in both the two and three dimensional divisions and receiving the invitation to hold a one-man exhibit.. Black and white paintings, black light paintings and watercolors will compose the bulk of the exhibit. Thirty-three students and one faculty member recently were inducted into the “Order of the Engineer” in ceremonies at South Dakota State University, Brookings. The ‘Order of the Engineer” is a professional society of engineers started recently in the United States to promote professional service and in tegrity. Members are presented a stainless steel ring, symbol of engineering and service to mankind. Those area students inducted into the society were: George Wilhelm, Faulkton; Donald Ruff, Huron; Wally Sorenson, Lake Preston; and Michael Blindauer, Letcher. A South Dakota State University coed from Lake Preston, Janet Wienk, has completed her business prac ticum at Joslin’s Department Store in Denver, Colo. The textiles and clothing major spent seven and a half weeks in Denver learning as much as possible about the Won't seek post FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Senate Majority Leader C. Warner Lit ten, R-Fargo, announced today he will not seek re-election to the North Dakota Senate in 1974, retailing business. Miss Wienk, who graduated from SDSU Dec. 15, earned eight academic credits for the internship. Twenty-three retail and hospital pharmacies will be aided by South Dakota State University pharmacy majors beginning Jan. 7. The students will work under the guidance of the regular phamacist on duty. The eight week ‘‘externship’’ program lets the students gain valuable on-the-job experience before graduation. Area students currently listed to take the first eight-week stint are: Dan Hilgenberg, Artesian; Kathy Hustead, Arlington; Janet Baird, Frankfort; and Robert Puffer, Hitchcock. A style show in the South Dakota Memorial Art’€enter climaxed the semester for South Dakota State University home economics students in four classes, apparel designing, creative clothing, tailoring and beginning principles of con struction. Area students displaying their projects were: Danial Walter, Cavour; Marla McLeod, Doland; Dawn Glanzer, Huron; Melanie Voss, Pierre; Jill Noyes, Redfield; and Marla Lichty, Wessington.
