BAY ROBERTS — Another step in the advancement of this town was accomplished on Wed nesday, January, 4th, when the school for Retarded Children was opened. Mrs. Vera Perlin, promoter for Retarded Schools, accompanied by Miss Mollie Dingle, teacher at St.John's school, were present for the opening to assist the teacher, Mrs. Hobbs with first lessons. Although only four Pupils were enrolled in first class, soon eight were attending re gularly. Voluntary workers, one every day, assisted Mrs. Hobbs in the classroom. “The local association under Mrs. Wilfred Wilcox, President, did wonderful work. On May 15 meeting of the Comittee was held, and plans made to hold an afternoon (ea and sale of work, accomplished by the children in the school on June 23rd. This sale proved very suc cessful. A successful campaign was carried out for the schools under the direction of Mrs. Fred Bennett. This collection covered the Correption Bay towns from Cupids to Clarke's Beach, the fine sum of §2,703. 41 being realized.
