Destroyed,MifcchellviHe,” Dec. 23.—Fire which broke out here at 10*30 o’clock yesterday morning destroyed close to $10,-000 worth of property, threatened for a time to wipe out the town and created a panic of no small proportions. Five buildings, including a half blockon the north side of Main street, were totally destroyed In the conflagaration and only a portion of their con ten is were saved. Insurance was carried on only a portion of the property destroyed. The tire originated in the Lyons restaurant by the explosion of a gasoline stove.The property destroyed was as follows:P. D. Lyons’ restaurant, brick veneer ed building and contents destroyed, worth $2,000 nnd covered by insurance.Two frame buildings worth $500 each. .One owned by Mrs. Hiekox and the other by Mrs. Carnes. Total loss, $1,000. The building owned by Mrs. Hiekox was occupied by Miss Allen’s millinery store, the contents of which were saved. The other frame building was empty.Brick veneered building owned by the Fields’ estate and occupied by II. 0. Alvord’s dry goods store, the contents of which were partially saved. Total loss $2,000, covered by Insurance.Opera house block, brick veneered, owned nnd occupied by the J. H. Jones clothing store and the City Bank.-.The contents of this-building were largely saved.
