Democratic Meeting In Dougherty.Ai.bany, 24th December, 1853.At a large and respectable meeting of the Democratic party at Albany, On this day, for Lhe purpose of nominating candidates for the lifter*itt County Offices for the county of Dougherty, to bo elected 011 the first Monday in January 1854—Dr. R. Q. Dickinson was cnlled to the Chair, and R. F. Lyon appointed Secretary of said meeting.On motion of James Chastain, the Chair appointed James Chastain, Wm. J. Lawton, Red-din Faircloth, Win. Beasley. B. O. Keaton, W. M. Slaughter, and James S. Miller, as a committee of seven to suggest the names of suitable candidates for the Democratic party to fill the various county offices for the county of! Dougherty.The committee retired for consultation, and returned reporting the names as follows:For Sheriff,John IV. Phillips.For Deputy Sheriffs,George W. Collier, Archibald A, Griffin.For Clerk Superior Court,Thomas J. Johnston.Deputy Clerk,E. II. Swinncy.For Clerk Inferior Court,• Thomas J. Johnston.Deputy Clerk,E. II. Swlnncy.For Ordinary,11. HI. Buford.For Tax Receiver,Bennett Adams.For Tax Collector, *It. 0. Rutland.%For County Surveyor,Thomas G. Westfall.For Coroner,Sherrod Hook.For Judges Inferior Court,Andrew Y. Hampton, John Jackson, Joshua W. Hodges, William W. Kendrick, Joshua B. Oliver.On motion of Nelson Tift, the report of tho committee was unanimously adopted.Col. Tift then offered the following resolution, which was unanimously adopted:Resolved, That we will unanimously support the nominees of the party now presented for election to office in the county of Dougherty, nnd will use every honorable and proper means for their success.• On motion of Wm. M. Slaughter,a committee of three was appointed by the Cbair, consisting j of B. O. Keaton, Col. Lawton, and Capt. Brooks, to wait upon the candidates nominated by this meeting, and notify them of their nomination. The committee duly reported the acceptance of tho nominations.The meeting was addressed by Col. Lawton, N. W. Collier, Wm. M. Slaughter, and divers I other members of the Democratic party.On motion, it wasResolved, That the proceedings of this meet-j ing he published in the next issue of the Albany Patriot.The meeting then adjourned.R.
