Rowe, of the LT. S. Infantry. The morning following, the Scleftroen,moved with the fame forrow which touched the hearts of all the grateful inhabitans of the town, juJging they withed to manifefl their refpeft to the me mory of that jurtly elleemed man, rccommm Jed a fufpenfion of bufinefs and amufements from one o'clock 'till the clofc of the day, ordered the bells to be tolled, and engaged the P.ev. Dr-Deane, to deliver a Funeral Oration in the even ing. on the folemr. occafion. They judged rightly—for the recommendation was almoft uni verfally complied with ;—the Ihops and flores* as well as the public offices were clofed, and tokens of grief very generally obferveJ. Minute guns were fired, and the U. S. flag dil-playcd at half malt from the Gripping. — It w«*s truly afTcfting to fee the change which fuddenl^ took place. The buflle uf bufinefs gave way at once to the filence of fympathetii forrow.— Thelblemn fcrvicesof the evening, which were attended by a numerous aflemblage, were per. formed to general fatisfaftion. They were commenced by a functal hymn, A pathetic, and affirming addrefs to the Supre!^ V'ng wan then made by the Rev. Mr. Kell^ iich was followed by another hymn. Af^.rtiiient funeral oration, meriting the approbation ot the audience, was then delivered by the Rev. Dr. Deane ; and a funeral anthem clo:ed the fo-lemnitie'.—The mnfic diJ credit to the per-fotmers.
