Louisiana GovernorAttacked For AiringGiven . be TerroristsSHREVEPORT, La,, Dec, 29,—-Friends of Governor John M. Parker today denied that I lie executive participated in mob action in Now Orleans in 1389, when eleven Italians were taken from jxii! and lynched.Charges that Governor Parker had led the mob were made in a letter to the executive from T. W. Robertson, former assistant attorney general, made public hero.The Italians were lynched, according to the letter, after they had been acquitted of the murder of the chief of police at New Orleans. ♦Parker, according to the charges, called upon New Orleans citizens to assemble at the Henry Clay monument on Canal St. and urged them to come prepared for action. The call is said to t have been published in two afternoon papers, with the name of John M. Parker, Jr.,” among those calling the meeting, the letter alleged.After the crowd assembled, the jail was stormde and the Italians taken and killed, it said.Robertson not only brought the charge against the executive, but also attacked him for publicity given the situation in Morehouse parish, the scene of recent terrorists activities. This publicity, Robertson asserted, reflects upon the “fair name of Louisiana in a way which conditions do not warrant.”The governor was also taken to task in the missive for having ordered troops to Morehouse parish, which, according to Robertson, waa unnecessary.Citizens here who were in New Orleans at the time of the Italians' lynching, deny that the present governor was in any wav connected with them.
