Article clipped from Saint Johns Colonist

It is certainly very ungallant that the only lady prose writer in the number should receive notice the last. I must only apologise and soy though last not least. “ Recollections of a Summer Holiday,” by Miss Anna M. Barnes is a [ chaste and graceful sketch of the scenery at Manuels. It is seldom that ladies here attempt prose, but when they do, as in Miss Barnes’s case, they succeed admirably. She has a good style and an easy flowing pen.In considering the contents of the Christmas Colonist we must remember that the articles are nearly all original, the selected paragraphs, or what editors call “ padding,” does not altogether occupy two columns. It is ^ertainly a proof that we possess a large amount of literary talent which ought oftener be brought out with advantage to the public.
