Mrs. Mary E. Pratt Passed Away At HomerFuneral services were held Satur- 1 day afternoon at the Rusk Funeral Home for M..s. Mary- E. Pr.itt, who | died at her home 2C3 East North Street. Thursday evening. December 20. 1945. Rev. Icenocle conducted the service, and interment wat in Rose Hill cemetery.Mrs. Pratt was born March 24. 1866. in LaPlata. Missouri. She lived there until her marriage to William H. Pratt, on December 28. 1892. rior to her marriage, she t night music in Linn County. During tire early years ^ of her life. Lie was aetive in church, J t club and civic affairs. She was a t,charter member of the Brookfield ^!chapter of P E. O, and had retained z her membership.About 35 years ago her hush nd's c business took them East, while there, p Mrs. Pratt accepted the position o’ teacher in the Janet Memorial Children's Home, in Elizabeth. New Jersey. The board soon recognized her abilitv with children, and promoted her to the position of Superintendent, which she ablv filled for 23 years. After a serious injury in an automobile acci- i U dent, about eight years ago. she re- Ii turned to Erookfield with her husband, i nHer success in her life's work was largely due to the great love she had for each child brought to her for care.
