Mrs. Amanda WeneMrs. Amanda Wene, wife of Jez-eral Wene, died at the family home on west State street, Friday, Dec. 15th. Death was the result of a stroke of paralysis one week previous.The funeral was held at the home Monday morning at 10:30 o’clock, Rev. J. Orr Powell, officiating. Burial was in Grovelawn, Cemetery.Mrs. Wene was born in Fayette county, Ohio, January 2, 1843. When nine years of age she moved with her parents in a covered wagon from Ohio to Indiana, arriv- ] ing at the home of James Cottey, near Greenfield, in the fall of 1852, where they remained until the spring of 1853, when they moved [ to the farm now owned by Mr. Wene west of Pendleton in Green township.She was united in marriage to Jezeral Wene, Nov. 26, 1868, and to them were born four children, namely, Lee Wene, residing south-east of Pendleton, Nelle Wene, Mrs. Alta Bond, of Dayton, O., and Verle Wene, of Columbus, O.Mrs. Wene was a life long member of the Methodist church. She was one of these grand old pioneer women of the community whose deeds of kindness will long be remembered by those who lived near here.
