INOSAMA ITEMS William Whitman, died at his home in Harrison county a few days ago. Lafayette Finley, one of the men implicated in the “White Cap” out rages near English, Inc .,and who was confined in the jail at Leaven worth, made his escape Saturday night from that insecure structure. His companions, the Wright broth ers, gave bond for their appearance. Fire broke out in the Michigan City penintiary shoe shop on Sat urday night, and the entire struc ture was soon completely destroy ed. The convicts were all tocked up in their cells and knew nothing of the conflagration, and on this ac count no panic resulted. The shoe shop was leased by Phelps, Dodge Palmer, of Chicago, who had a contract for and employed 100 men. The machiness was ruined. The toss is roughly estimated at $75,000. The flames were not permited to spread to any other part of the pri son. Thirty-two years ago Wm. Mc Daniels and Miss Amanda White were married at Jeffersonville. Fif teen years later the husband be came dissipated and disappeared. Later his wife married her dead sister’s husband. Two years ago he too died. Last Monday in the post office a well-kept old lady ran against a well-kept old man. There was a start and a recognition. It was McDaniels an his wife. They barried to a’squire who was il', but he married them as he lay in Both have large fortunes and are happy.
