This holiday dining guide, compiled in alpha betical order by restaurant editor Todd Thomey, will tell you what hours your favorite place is open and what day, if any, it’s closed. Save this section. It will also come in handy as a reference during the weeks and months to come. New Year’s Dancing, Champagne Parties HILLTOP STAR ROOM, 2300 E. 28rd St., Signal Hill. Reser vations now being taken for New Year’s Eve party to in clude dancing from 9 p.m. on to George Metcalf’s orchestra and free favors, noisemakers and balloons to guests. Dinner from 6 p.m. on. Open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.; special luncheon from 11 a.m. to 4 pm.; dinners from 4 to midnight. No dancing Mondays. High atop Signal Hill, the Star Room provides its guests with a beautiful view of the harbor and much of the great Los Angeles basin. Reservations now being taken for the special New Year’s Eve champagne party which will include free favors to all guests, dancing to two orchestras, entertainment by Lewis Sanchez. The sup per club is open daily from 5 p.m. to 2 am. Three banquet rooms, with total seating ca pacity for 450. Owned by Woody Sannes, this magnificent supper club will treat its guests to a spe cial menu for the New Year’s Eve party which will start at 9 pm. Choice of four entrees will be offered: top sirloin, whole broiled lobster, roast chicken or prime rib au jus. A bottle of champagne will be served at each table and the dinner will include soup or salad, potato, vegetables, hot rolls, beverage and dessert. The glamorous Chandelier will put on a special New Year’s Eve feast prepared by master chef John Leonhardi. For $7 per person it will in clude: Bottle of champagne per couple, chilled hors d'oeuvres, broiled shrimp Ro lande, salad Chandelier, choice of three entrees, string beans Alondine, Suzette potatoes, hot French bread, sweet butter, Glace Fantaisie for dessert and coffee. The Rendezvous is still aglow from the recent triumph of Stan Kenton’s band on opening night when 6,000 devotees paid homage to the Kenton musical viewpoint. This showplace restaurant, with an exotic island decor, will provide its patrons with a seven-course party: New Year's Eve for $15 a person. Each couple will receive a bottle of champagne and a choice four entrees: kalua pig, lobster maori, mahi-mahi or Javanese saute. The dinner will include choice of appetizers, soup, salad, banana loaf, dessert and coffee, VIVIAN LAIRD’S SUPPER CLUB, Alamitos at 1st St. Special New Year’s Eve party by reservation, starting at 8:30 p.m. Dancing to Reed Williams and his orchestra; Tyler Gil man entertaining in the Jungle Room. Open 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily; dinners 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. This Supper Club is one of the largest and most glamorous in the Long Beach area. The special New Year’s Eve party, $10 per person including tax, will include favors and noise makers and a deluxe dinner offering these entrees: New York cut or filet mignon steaks, prime rib au jus, broiled lobster or fried chicken. Also included will be shrimp cocktail or fruit cup, mushroom soup or con somme, chef’s tossed green sal ad, baked potato, hot rolls, choice of numerous desserts and choice of beverage. WILTON HOTEL SKY ROOM, E. Ocean Blvd., near American Ave. Special New Year’s Eve party including champagne, hats, balloons and noisemakers. Dinner from 6 p.m. on. Dancing to the clever Leaders and caté Merri-Lee. Shows at 10:30 and 12:30, fea turing Bob Hart, comic and emcee; Dolores Alexus, dancing acrobatic star, and Decca re cording star and TV entertainer Fay Morley. (The special shows will be presented every night throughout the holidays.) Thanks to the planning of Catering Manager William Salk in and Maitre d’ Hotel J. Ga briel, the redecorated Skyroom will offer its patrons a New Year’s Eve party with enter tainment and a magnificent view of the entire harbor tossed in for free.
