Results in a literary contest which took place in 1942, partic ipated in by several local Paro chial schools, have just been an nounced from Paris, according to word received by Miss Helene Thivierge, May street. Pupils of superior grades at St. Joseph, St. Andre schools and St. Francis college were invited to take part in the contest, which was sponsored by the Catholic Committee of Les Amitres Fran caises de Paris. Grades on the compositions ranged from 20 to zero, and the scale is 10, minimum; 13, fair; 15, well; 17, very well. Higher ranks receive the congratulations of the jury at the Catholic Institute of Paris. Meritorious students in this city included: Miss Therese Ber thiaume, now employed in the business office of the Journal, 15 points; Therese Bouthot, now Rev. Sister St. Leonel, teacher at Van Buren, 16; Gertrude Champoux, now Rev. Sister Ste. Fernande de Jesus, Van Buren, 19; Rita Gron din, now Rev. Sister St. Robert de Citeaux, Lawrence, Mass., 14; Rita Faucher, employed at the Han cock Insurance company, this city, 18, and Pauline Gelinas of Delorge Bakery, this city, 17, all of St. Joseph High school. Conrad Laplante, St. Francis college, now at the Novitiate of the Franciscan Fathers. Sher brooke, P. Q., 18 points; Miss Lucille Lefebvre, 40 Pool street. 20. and Irene Roy, now Rev. Sis ter M. Germaine Therese, Pres entation of Mary, Berlin, N. H., '9. both of St. Andre High school. Miss Roy’s composition was pub lished in a French paper in Lon don.
